This 2024 reissue of Walls Have Ears resurrects one of the most notorious live documents in Sonic Youth’s history — a feral, unfiltered snapshot of the band’s mid‑80s evolution. Sourced from performances recorded at the University of London Union, Brighton Beach, and The Palais De Dance , the album captures the group at their most abrasive and exploratory.
Across four sides, the set moves from jagged no‑wave assaults to sprawling noise‑rock improvisations, with classics like “Brother James,” “Kill Yr. Idols,” “Death Valley ’69,” and “Expressway To Yr. Skull” delivered in raw, volatile form. The reissue also includes the infamous “I’m Insane” performance, which appears on the audio but not the printed tracklist .
Pressed on Red and Yellow translucent vinyl, this edition features a gatefold jacket, printed inner sleeves, and mastering by Saff from the original tapes, making it the definitive modern version of this legendary semi‑bootleg.
