Marking 50 years since its original release, Tropical Dandy returns in a stunning Ocean Blue vinyl edition, giving Haruomi Hosono's influential 1975 cult classic its first-ever international reissue. Widely regarded as a landmark recording in the development of Japanese City Pop, the album captures Hosono's adventurous blend of exotica, jazz, pop, folk and tropical sounds.
Following his work with the legendary folk-rock group Happy End and before the formation of Yellow Magic Orchestra, Hosono began exploring a more global, genre-defying sound. Tropical Dandy stands as a key turning point in his career, combining laid-back grooves, lush arrangements and a uniquely Pacific atmosphere that would influence generations of musicians.
This 50th anniversary edition is pressed on limited Ocean Blue 180-gram vinyl and includes an exclusive OBI strip along with a new English translation of Hosono's original 1975 liner notes. Newly mastered for vinyl by Josh Bonati, it faithfully reproduces the iconic original artwork.

For orders under $100, Standard Postage is $13.50.
For orders from $100 to $1,000, Express Shipping is $22.

Express Shipping covers one delivery attempt, so please provide an address where someone is available to sign for courier delivery between 9 am and 5 pm weekdays. You may request that the parcel be left in a safe place, but if anything happens to the parcel, neither we nor the courier company can be held responsible. Work addresses are a great delivery option — if using a work address, please include the business name.
