This Old Dog captures Mac DeMarco in a moment of transition — geographically, personally, and musically. After moving from Queens to Los Angeles, DeMarco found himself sitting with a full set of demos longer than usual, giving him time to reflect and reshape the material.
He describes the process as unusually slow and introspective, allowing him to “really get to know the songs” before recording them properly . Much of the album was written on acoustic guitar, a new approach for him, and the final recordings blend acoustic textures, synthesizers, drum machines, and only a single electric‑guitar‑driven track.
From the warm CR‑78 drum machine pops of “My Old Man” to the synth‑washed title track “This Old Dog”, the album leans into a gentler, more reflective sound while still carrying DeMarco’s unmistakable charm and melodic instinct.
He jokingly calls it his “acoustic album that isn’t really an acoustic album,” and even an “Italian rock record,” but the truth is simpler: This Old Dog is one of his most mature, thoughtful and beautifully crafted releases to date.

For orders under $100, Standard Postage is $13.50.
For orders from $100 to $1,000, Express Shipping is $22.

Express Shipping covers one delivery attempt, so please provide an address where someone is available to sign for courier delivery between 9 am and 5 pm weekdays. You may request that the parcel be left in a safe place, but if anything happens to the parcel, neither we nor the courier company can be held responsible. Work addresses are a great delivery option — if using a work address, please include the business name.
Vinyl records are packed in rigid LP mailers with corner protection and internal padding to prevent damage in transit.
