Freetown Sound is the third album from Blood Orange, the acclaimed project of Devonté Hynes. Known for his genre-defying approach, Hynes draws on elements of funk, R&B, and pop to create a deeply personal and politically charged record that reflects both his influences and lived experiences.
Building on the foundations of Coastal Grooves and the breakthrough Cupid Deluxe, this album sees Hynes at his most expansive. Freetown Sound unfolds like a piece of theatre across 17 tracks, weaving together shifting moods, voices and textures into a cohesive and immersive listening experience.
Named after the capital of Sierra Leone, the birthplace of Hynes’ father, the album explores themes of race, identity, religion and sexuality with honesty and depth. Its layered production and interconnected song structures create a sound that is both intimate and wide-ranging, delivering one of Blood Orange’s most complete and compelling releases.

Order weight is calculated on whichever of the dead (actual) or volumetric weight is the greatest. As of 21/5/26, shipping is capped for orders up to 15 kg to most areas.
For orders under $100, Standard Postage is $13.50.
For orders from $100 to $1,000, Express Shipping is $22.
Orders over $1,000 ship for free*.
Express Shipping covers one delivery attempt, so please provide an address where someone is available to sign for courier delivery between 9 am and 5 pm weekdays. You may request that the parcel be left in a safe place, but if anything happens to the parcel, neither we nor the courier company can be held responsible. Work addresses are a great delivery option — if using a work address, please include the business name.
Vinyl records are packed in rigid LP mailers with corner protection and internal padding to prevent damage in transit.
